What We Can Expect From Canada Immigration In 2021?
The past year was turbulent. We bring you a review of what can one expect from Canadian Immigration in 2021.
No one had thought 2020 would be anything but that. With a pandemic that still strikes, it has affected the immigration system.
In 2019, Canada welcomed 341,000 new immigrants. A global crisis took place affecting, the immigration system of Canada.
Canada had its travel restriction since March 18th limiting the number of foreign nationals and International Graduates but Express Entry program, PNP, and other programs.
One cannot say that the pandemic is over, people are still getting affected, and social distancing is still mandatory.
It can`t be said that everything will go back to normal because it will not. It will take time and now the Vaccine is here, we all can hope for something better. Canada began the largest vaccination campaign in December and aims to vaccinate those who want the COVID-19 insulation by September.
The travel restrictions implemented by Canada for newcomers was a policy to abide by. E.g. the 14 day quarantine period and negative results for the COVID-19 results.
It is important to note that the crisis did not impact the commitment to welcome immigrants, international students, or foreign nationals. The new 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan promises to welcome 400,001 immigrants per year.
Although it is difficult to say that Canada's immigration system will achieve its targets, the federal and provincial government will hold draws and process applications. The reason is that if Canada is physically not able to welcome new immigrants in 2021, they can do it later with the approval application.
The trail of the vaccine and the approval may explore changes in the travel restrictions. For example, Canada can lift slight changes in the travel restriction for newcomers who insulated the COVID-18 vaccine and submitted the test results. This would bring new immigrants and boost the economic growth of the region. The intake of 2021-2023 Immigration Levels Plan is to compensate for the post-COVID economic recovery.
It also reveals that sometimes in January, we may get a clear picture of Canada`s immigration system and the new mandate letters. Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino will outline the main features and prioritize the department of IRCC- Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada.
Also, Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) lottery is confirmed for early 2020, inviting up to 10,000 applicants. The IRCC will hold another PGO lottery draw, inviting up to 30,000 applicants.
It is expected that the year 2021 will seek to be normal for the immigration system and will be less troublesome than 2020.
